Limescale Logic legal information
Privacy policy
This policy explains the limited personal information Limescale Logic may handle, why it is used and the choices available to visitors. Privacy questions can be sent to contact@limescalelogic.com.
Current site features: Limescale Logic does not currently provide user accounts, online payments, comments, uploads, subscriptions, newsletters or contact forms. Visitors may contact us by email.
Information you choose to provide
If you email us, we receive your email address, message, attachments and any other information you include. Please do not send passwords, financial account details, medical records, identity documents or other highly sensitive information. Correspondence may be used to respond, maintain appropriate records, protect legal rights and improve the website.
Technical and hosting information
Hosting, network, security and email providers may process routine technical information needed to deliver and protect the website. This may include an IP address, date and time, requested page, referring page, browser, device and security events. The exact fields and retention periods depend on the provider and operational requirements.
Website tools
The hardness classifier, cost calculator, installation checklist and site search run in the visitor's browser. Limescale Logic does not intentionally transmit or store the values entered into these tools. Technical server logs may still record that a tools or search page was requested.
Cookies, local storage and analytics
The current website does not intentionally use non-essential analytics, advertising or affiliate-tracking cookies. Essential hosting or security technologies may operate where necessary to provide and protect the site. If optional analytics or other non-essential technologies are introduced, this policy and the cookie information will be updated and consent will be requested where required.
Why information is used
- To respond to emails and requests.
- To operate, secure and improve the website.
- To investigate misuse and protect legal rights.
- To comply with applicable legal obligations.
Lawful bases
Where UK data-protection law applies, processing may rely on consent, legitimate interests in operating and protecting an educational website, steps requested before entering a contract, performance of a contract or compliance with a legal obligation. Where legitimate interests are used, the impact on individual rights is considered.
How information may be shared
Personal information is not sold or rented. It may be processed by providers supporting hosting, email, security, website operations and professional advice. Information may also be disclosed where reasonably necessary to comply with law, protect rights or safety, investigate misuse or complete a business transfer subject to appropriate safeguards.
International processing
Some service providers may process information outside the United Kingdom. Where UK data-protection law requires it, recognised transfer safeguards or another lawful transfer mechanism will be used.
Retention
Information is retained only for as long as reasonably needed for the purpose described, legal and accounting obligations, security, disputes and recordkeeping. Retention varies by information type and provider. Information may be deleted, anonymised or archived when it is no longer reasonably required.
Security
Reasonable administrative and technical safeguards are used for the limited information handled. No internet transmission or storage system is completely secure, so absolute security cannot be guaranteed.
Your rights
Depending on the circumstances, UK data-protection law may provide rights to request access, correction, erasure, restriction, objection or data portability, and to withdraw consent. Information may be needed to verify a request, and some information may be retained where permitted or required by law. Requests can be emailed to contact@limescalelogic.com.
Complaints
You may raise a concern with the UK Information Commissioner's Office. Current contact and complaint information is available at ico.org.uk/make-a-complaint.
Children
The website is intended for a general adult audience and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. A parent or guardian who believes a child supplied information may email us to request review and deletion.

External websites control their own privacy practices. Review the privacy information of any external site before providing personal information.

This policy may be revised as the website, providers or law changes. The last-updated date will be amended when changes are published.
