In brief

Carbon and reverse osmosis have different treatment scopes, plumbing needs, water use and maintenance.

Carbon filtration

A carbon system is often selected for documented taste and odour objectives. It can offer relatively simple point-of-use installation, but it does not remove every dissolved substance and is not a water softener.

Reverse osmosis

An RO membrane separates a proportion of dissolved material into a reject stream while producing treated water. Systems require appropriate pressure, storage or production capacity, prefiltration, drainage and scheduled maintenance.

Choose from the actual water question

Check the supplier report and system data. Do not choose more treatment simply because it sounds more comprehensive.
